I just used some images off line for my book talk presentation. This is the book and what it looks like and i found a picture of the main characters and their family. This is the Finch family and the little girl is Scout and she is the one telling the story. I figured if i used just two simple pictures then i would focus more on the people i was presenting to rather than if i had a huge presentation to look at. The book talk was very helpful though becuase it helped me to be able to look back and find some of the main points and sort through all the information to find the most important parts to share with my calssmates. It was challenging but was worth it and helped me to now when i read be able to identify what is the most important to a particular book.
This is the powerpoint i used in my final speech as my visual. I put some pictures of each of my main points then described them in my speech.
To introduce my speech I used a question. Yes I think all my main points were
clearly identified and there were a few things I has ro omit just for the sake
of time. No I do not feel my conclusion was rushed. It was at the same pace my
entire speech was. I had ok eye contact, I think I could have done better.
Also since I knewi was being taped I continued to look the way my I pad was
facing. I would glance at my notes but I may not keep them forthe final because
if I get to nervous I will constantly look at the notes instead of the audience.
Idid not do anything really distracting but I did move my feet around a lot and
kid of lean so I need to remember not to do that next time. My voice was at a
slow pace bit then I would get fast in some places. I was so nervous and did not
know where my time would end up so I pushed some times. I did seem confident at
times though. I did catch myself using uh a few times. Not as mich as usually do
but I did say it but wasn't aware untilihad already done it. I do think I should
work some on trying to make my voice support the words I'm saying. Indid notice
that in some parts inwas more passionate about I was really lively and in other
parts I toned down again. To improve my speech I need to make more eye
contact for sure. Also try and make sure I do not repeat things as much but when
I'm nervous it is a big habit. I do think having a visual will help too and I
also may need to take more elements out because I was right on the border for
time today. Although today did help me and now I know more of how to prepare for
the final speech.

To introduce my final speech i used the same question as before but the thing i did different was say my name before. This time after the question I gave personal information like I have worked with many children and know that it is important for them to learn aspects of life as early as they can. I did cut out some information because i was afraid i may be rushed at the end. Since i cut out some information my conclusion was not rushed and i fetl like i could have added a little more. Since I had a presentation my eye contact was a little better but still could have been improved although this time i focused more on my powerpoint rather than my note cards. I also noticed that at the beginning of the speech i had some planned movement but some unplanned and that was more than likely just the nervous feeling. I do think i could have looked at my note cards a little less though and between my note cards and my powerpoint I did forget to look at the audience in some places. I did notice i spoke with more of a jazz in my voice and was not as mono toned because i thought i was pretty monotoned in my practice speech. There were a few spots it sounded to me like i stumbled a little bit but other than that i think i was pretty understandable. I still used uh but not as much as in my practice speech. I need to improve on freaking myself out before hand because that makes me more nervous when i get up there and even though i do not look nervous inside im freaking out. If i could get better about that then the other things would slowly work there way to getting better too.
